I : Quantitative Ability (SA)

IPMAT Indore only — 15 short-answer questions in 40 minutes. No multiple-choice options; you write the numeric/algebraic answer directly. No negative marking for this section, so attempt every question — but only commit when you’re confident, because partial credit doesn’t exist.

This section is the single biggest differentiator from JIPMAT and IPMAT Rohtak: the higher-mathematics topics below are tested almost exclusively here and in Indore’s QA-MCQ section.

Higher Mathematics

  1. Trigonometry
  2. Matrices and Determinants
  3. Functions, Logarithms & Quadratic Equations
  4. Cartesian Coordinate System
  5. Straight Lines
  6. Coordinate Geometry
  7. Vector Algebra
  8. Circles
  9. Integration
  10. Differentiation
  11. Limits, Continuity and Series
Tip  SA strategy

SA questions reward precise computation over elimination tricks. There’s no answer bank to back-solve from. Spend the first 5 minutes scanning for short-trigger questions (a factor count, a single-variable equation) before settling into longer calculations. The “no negative” rule means: never leave a blank, but only finalise when you’ve sanity-checked the answer.
